I am going to be competing at my county 4-H fair next year and I hope to be able to show at some schooling shows. Maybe I will be the first to canter Henry, he has only gone walk trot.

Allison has been riding since she was a baby but this summer has been the first time she has really been able to be let off the line. Kelley has been a big part of that by helping Allison gain her confidence and the control she needs to be able to ride alone. Allison has learned so much in the past few months and she can never wait until her next lesson. Kelley really works well with the young riders. Ally’s pony is much happier as well now that his rider is learning to have a quiet seat and hands. I can’t wait to see them at their first show. –Lynn

I just got Swish last August, so I am learning how to ride a young, green horse.  We have made so much progress already.  I can’t wait for this summer!

I would love to compete in some mini-events this year and some day go to Rolex!

Kelley has taught me so much about myself and my new horse.  She gives me “homework” to work on after each lesson to improve my skills.  She is able to pick up on my weaknesses and my strengths and is teaching me how to apply myself in a more effective manner

I would like to show dressage, jump and show my county 4-H fair

Kelley started working with three of my daughters this summer a couple weeks before my girls had to show at our county 4-H fair. I had just decided a trainer change was necessary because our previous trainer, over the past couple of years had proven she was just not available for us when we my kids needed her. Kelley showed me right away that she was going to be there for my girls. She found time to squeeze in a couple lessons during the two weeks before fair and even came out to the fairgrounds a couple times before they had to show to work with my girls to make sure their horses were working well for them. She couldn’t be there the day they had to actually show but she talked to one of my daughters over the phone to offer encouragement and advise when she was having trouble which gave my daughter the confidence to continue. It meant a lot to me that even though she didn’t know my girls very well yet that she went out of her way to work with them and get them ready in such a short amount of time. She earned our respect and trust right away.

Truman and I ride around in the field (English) and work on leg work/poles. We like to practice a low level of dressage. I love to trail ride on a nice, cool day. Not only is he good on the actual trail, but in the trail class too!! We also do showmanship and games! I love cuddling with him in the pasture, he is such a sweetheart!

We are hoping to get the canter nice, collected, and balanced. I also hope to desensitize him more to random scary objects so I can trust him more and work on myself rather than worrying about him. Hopefully someday we will get more into jumping than we are now!!

Kelley has helped me SO much with my riding. When I started, I bounced around and steered with my reins. Now, I’m balanced and calm, and I can ride with almost no reins and steer him with my legs! She has taught me to always be prepared for what the horse might do. Also, now I focus more on every part of my body and make my muscles work together to have a nice form. I am better at balancing my horse back with my body rather than just yanking on the reins. I am so much more confident in my riding. I could go on forever, thanks so much Kelley!!!!

Before I started lessons with Kelley, I could barely get my left lead and just had no idea how to train my horse. I saw more improvement with my horse after just the first lesson with Kelley then all the lessons I had taken with previous trainers. I completely understand what she is teaching me and how to do it. What means the most to me is that instead of writing my horse off and telling me to sell him like other trainers had, she sees potential in him and helps us through problems to make us better.

In the few months that Kelley has been working with my daughter Hannah, she has given her more confidence in her riding ability. She has helped Hannah develop a relationship with Austin. I love that Kelley works with Hannah & Austin and gives her the tools she needs to help train Austin. Hannah now enjoys riding Austin more than ever, because she sees the accomplishments that she has made with him and understands more since Kelley has worked with her. In the past Hannah has not placed or placed last in her classes. Her first County Fair since working with Kelley, Hannah got Seconds in both of her Western Classes. I can’t say enough about Kelley. I am so thankful that Linda introduced us to Kelley. –Debra

I have been taking weekly lessons from Kelley for almost three years now and have enjoyed every lesson I have had. Kelley is able to clearly explain the “how” and “why” regarding rider position and the effect if plays on the horse. I have consistently been able to see an improvement in the horse I am riding by adjusting the way I ride. Although I am not a Dressage nut, and would rather be jumping, Kelley has taught me to appreciate the importance of good Dressage work to aid in jumping ability and riding a clean course.

I acquired Shelby this past fall.  In just a few months with Kelley, I have seen a drastic difference in Shelby’s performance/training, understanding of our weaknesses, aids, and form over fences.  Kelley has targeted areas of weakness to help us better communicate and complete tasks at hand in a safe, rhythmic, collected, and thought out way.  Beside being a very knowledgeable and experienced instructor with creative ways of teaching, she is also an extremely friendly, reliable, and fun person to be around.

We have done many CTs, Dressage shows, and Horse Trials. We enjoy doing trail riding and Pony Club activities, rallies, and competitions

We hope to show at a USEA recognized Novice Level Horse Trial next year. I hope to sell Wiley and purchase a new horse. I hope to move up the levels with this horse – at least to Preliminary level. I also hope to make it to the Rolex CCI **** someday!

Kelley is like the sister that I never had! She has taught me so much of what she has learned which has helped me and my pony.

Kelley has helped me to develop a better seat and communicate better with my horse using leg and lower body.

Zoryan (“Zee”), a 10 year old Friesian/QH gelding. Ridden in mounted shooting events in his last (short lived) career.

Currently we train in an arena working on building rider/body awareness. We are also working on lateral work in an effort to increase Zee’s suppleness and responsiveness as well as to improve his agility on the flat and over fences.

Eventually I’d like to compete in some local shows and/or some low level combined training events for fun.

As a working mother, my time at the barn is my “me time” and my primary goal when riding is to have fun and learn something new in the process. I’ve been training with Kelley for two years and she’s taught me a lot and has made sure we’ve had fun along the way. She has a great knack for explaining the goal of an exercise as well as the steps involved in working through the exercises. She’s not into ‘gadgets’ and the only piece of tack she’s ever suggested I consider adding to my collection was an Eggbutt snaffle (turns out it was a great suggestion).

We hope to continue to show in Dressage as time allows! Pony Club has taken a lot of time from our showing.

Kelley has a unique way of teaching. She uses body awareness of horse and rider which has helped me to understand how to get the best out of my horse.

Kelley has helped me in increase my self-esteem by becoming more comfortable and relaxed atop Josie.  Iam excited by the progress I see each week as Josie and I become a team.  I am eager to see just how far we can go.  But the best thing about Kelley is that she isn’t elitist – she’s willing to work with me and a ‘draft’ horse in an Aussie saddle.  She’s open and friendly and definitely knows her stuff
